The Light Jesus commanded

      Matthew 5:14-16 KJV

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. [15] Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. [16] Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

    In the Bible, light is a powerful symbol often representing God, his presence, truth, and guidance. Jesus is frequently referred to as the “Light of the World,” signifying his role as a source of hope and salvation. God is also described as light, free from darkness.

    God as Light:

The Bible declares that “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). This signifies his holiness, purity, and divine nature

       Jesus as the Light of the World:

Jesus identifies himself as the “light of the world,” stating that those who follow him will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life (John 8:12). This highlights his role as the source of spiritual illumination and truth. 

          God’s Word as a Lamp and a Light:

Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path,” emphasizing that God’s teachings guide believers’ lives. 

      Believers as Light:

Jesus tells his disciples, “You are the light of the world,” encouraging them to reflect God’s light through their actions and words (Matthew 5:14). 

        Light in the Desert:

The pillar of fire that guided the Israelites through the wilderness is a biblical example of light as a symbol of divine presence and guidance. 

         Light and Darkness:

The Bible contrasts light with darkness, where light represents good, knowledge, and God’s presence, while darkness symbolizes evil, sin, and ignorance

… angels ( 2 Corinthians 11:14 ), and of John the Baptist, who was a “burning and a shining light” ( John 5:35 ), and of all true disciples, who are styled …light of the wold.
